A confession: I still follow professional wrestling.
Granted, I don't watch it every Monday and Thursday like I used to. I don't go see any of the live shows anymore. I might catch a few minutes here or there when there isn't anything else on TV and Chuck is out of the room. (She HATES it when I watch it, even for a few seconds. It's those times I remind her she was on TV, cheering for the Rock at a live event years ago. ;) ). But I still try to keep up with news, the current storylines, who the champions are, etc.
This morning I heard that Eddie Guerrero was found dead in his hotel room this weekend. He was 38.
I'm not going to turn this into a tribute to him, but I just needed to convey my sympathies. Eddie was one of the best: terrific at his character, excellent wrestling and mic skills. Whether he was the good guy or the bad guy, he was always fun to watch. He had conquered his addictions to booze and painkillers. He really turned his life around and won the title at one point. That's the one "brightside" moment of this: his life didn't end in the down and out like many wrestlers seem to go.
There is sure to be a tribute night for him tonight on WWE Raw, which is shown on USA in the States, TSN in Canada. I'll be watching as much as I can of this tonight.
I'll miss Eddie.
Hen.
